Fast Form Filler Instruction Manual

Fast Form Filler is a software program for Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP/NT/Vista computers that saves you time typing routine information into forms, both on the Internet and in programs. It allows you to store a list of phrases, such as your name, address, credit card numbers, email address, or passwords. It then displays a list of all stored phrases on the main screen. By simply clicking on the phrase you want and then clicking on the input box where you want to type the phrase (or the other way around), you can have Fast Form Filler type the phrase for you. This can save you many hours of typing over the course of a year. It is also a convenient way to input passwords, provided nobody else has access to your computer.

Registering Fast Form Filler

From the time you first run Fast Form Filler, you have a 30-day trial period to evaluate it. During that time, Fast Form Filler will be fully functional. If you decide you like Fast Form Filler, you should register and pay for it ($10). At the end of the trial period, if you do not pay for Fast Form Filler and input the unlock code you receive, Fast Form Filler will be deactivated. That is, it will no longer type anything when you click on the list of phrases. It will be reactivated when you input the unlock code, which you will receive when you pay for Fast Form Filler.
There are several ways to pay for Fast Form Filler. The easiest way to register a single copy is to go to the LeithauserResearch.com site. From there, you can go to the payment page (links are in the third paragraph on the home page). Scroll down the page to the place where Fast Form Filler is listed. Input the serial number that appears on the registration screen for Fast Form Filler (the screen that asks you to register and input your unlock code) and then click on the "PayPal buy now" button. You will be sent the unlock code by email. You will normally receive this code within a day, although it may take a little longer under unusual circumstances (Internet problems, etc.).
You can also pay for Fast Form Filler by clicking on the Print button to print a form. You can then mail this form to the address given on the form or fax it to the fax number given on the form. You can pay by enclosing a check or by filling out the credit card information on the form. You can also pay by phone using your credit card. The number to call is 386-738-0418.
Volume discounts are available. Call 386-738-0418 or send an email to Leithauser@aol.com with information on how many copies you want to license for a price quote.

Setting up a phrase list

The main screen of Fast Form Filler contains the list of phrases you have stored. The first time you run Fast Form Filler, this list will naturally be blank. The first thing you want to do is input a list of phrases that you type often. To do this, click on the Edit List option at the top of the main screen. This will display the Edit Phrase List Form. This form lets you add phrases to the list, edit existing phrases, or delete phrases from the list.
At the top of this screen, the name of the current file is displayed. This is the file where any changes you make on this screen will be saved. The name of the default file (the one automatically selected when Fast Form Filler runs) is WordList. You can change the current file by using either the Save File option or the Load File option under the Files menu on the main screen. You can also change the current file when you click on the Delete All button explained below.
Near the top of the screen is a box containing option buttons labeled Add, Edit, Delete, and Move. Select whether you want to add phrases to the list, edit existing phrases, delete phrases from the list, or move phrases up or down within the list (change order) by clicking on the appropriate option button.
The middle of the screen has a list box containing a list of the current stored phrases. In the Edit, Delete, or Move mode, you can select a phrase by clicking on this list box. For the Add mode, this list is merely to inform you of the current phrases.
Below the list box there is a text box. You will use this box to input phrases in the Add mode and Edit phrases in the Edit mode. It is disabled in the Delete or Move mode.
If you are in the Add mode, just type the phrase you want to add in the text box and hit the Enter key on your keyboard or click on the Add button.
If you are in Edit mode, select the phrase you want to edit by clicking on that phrase on the list box. The phrase you selected will appear in the text box. Edit the phrase, then click on the Change button or press the Enter key on your keyboard.
If you are in Delete mode, select the phrase you want to delete by clicking on that phrase on the list. Then click on the Delete button or press the Enter key on your keyboard. There is also a "Delete All" button when you are in the Delete mode. If you click on this, the program will then ask you if you want to create a new list. If you click on the No button, your current list will be emptied and saved. Note that this will permanently destroy the current list. However, if you click on the Yes button, your current list will not be altered. Instead, Fast Form Filler will display a screen that allows you to create a new file. The screen contains a list of existing files (so that you do not pick a name that already exists) and a test box where you can type the name you want to use for the new list. Once you pick a new name and click on the OK button, the new (empty) file will be created. Any further changes you make in the list (adding phrases, etc.) will be made in this file. Note: The Create New List screen contains a Cancel button. If you click on this button, creation of the new file is cancelled and your old file will be emptied.
If you are in Move mode, select the phrase you want to move by clicking on that phrase on the list. Then click on the Up or Down button to move that phrase up or down in the list. This allows you to rearrange the order of phrases in the list.
When you are finished adding, editing, deleting, or moving phrases, click on the Close button or press the Esc key on your keyboard. The Edit Phrase List form will disappear and the main screen will reappear.

Modes

There are three modes of operation for Fast Form Filler. In the first mode, you first click on the phrase you want in Fast Form Filler's main screen list box and then click on the text box in your other program where you want the phrase to appear. The phrase will type itself into the text box as soon as you click on the text box. In the second mode, you first click on the text box on your other program and then click on the phrase from the phrase list on Fast Form Filler. The phrase will type into the text box as soon as you release the mouse button. In the third mode, the phrase is simply put into the clipboard. This is the area of memory that Windows draws from when you select the Paste option from the right mouse click dropdown box or the Edit menu of a program. All three modes work with some programs, but for some programs, only one of the modes works properly.
The first mode works particularly well with text boxes on Web pages. That is, it is particularly good for filling out those forms you need to fill in on Web sites, such as user ID and password when logging onto a site, or name, address, and credit card information when ordering online.
The second mode generally works better when filling in information on other programs, like spreadsheets or database programs. It can be particularly useful if your business has some form, like insurance forms, that you must fill in your company name and information for each bill.
The third mode is the most universal, but the least convenient. With that mode, you must click on phrase in the Fast Form Filler list, then right click on the text box, then left click on the Paste option in the menu that appears after you right click on the text box. (Alternatively, you could left click on the text box and then click on any paste option in the receiving program itself.) It involves one more mouse click than the others.
You select which mode you want by clicking on the Mode menu at the top of the main screen and then clicking on the desired mode on the menu that drops down. The current mode is indicated by a check mark beside it on the menu. It is also displayed above the list box on the main screen. You can switch back and forth easily between modes.

Using Fast Form Filler

To use Fast Form Filler, we suggest that you run it by clicking on the desktop icon (a hand writing on a note pad) and then minimize it. That will put it on your task bar so it will be convenient whenever you want it. You can restore it to a normal window by clicking on in on the task bar. For your convenience, Fast Form Filler will always be in front of whatever other programs are running, even if the other program has the focus. That way, Fast Form Filler does not disappear when you click on the other program.
You can easily resize Fast Form Filler so that it is as small as possible and still show the list of phrases. Just move the mouse cursor to one side of Fast Form Filler, or the top or bottom of Fast Form Filler, where the mouse cursor should turn into a two-pointed arrow. Then hold down the mouse button and move the mouse. Fast Form Filler will change size as the mouse cursor moves.

Creating new files

The name of the file that Fast Form Filler automatically loads when it runs is WordList. You can create new files by clicking on the Files menu and then on the Create/Save List option. This will display the Create/Save List screen.
This screen allows you to create new files. Near the top, it shows you a list of all existing files. It also has a text box where you can input a new name. When you input a name in this box and click on the Save button (or press the Enter key on your keyboard), the contents of the current file are saved to this newly created file. The new file then becomes the active file until you either exit and restart Fast Form Filler (at which time WordList becomes the current file again) or you load or create another file. Any changes made in the Edit form are then made automatically to this file. That is, once you have created a new list file, you can go to the Edit List function and add or delete phrases from the list. These changes will then automatically be made in the new file.
Note that you are also given the opportunity to create a new file when you choose the Delete All function in the Edit List function.

Loading existing files

Remember that WordList is always the file loaded when you start Fast Form Filler. If you have created other files using the Create/Save List option, you can load any of these files at any time by clicking on the Files menu and then on the Load List option. This will display the Load Files screen.
This Load Files screen shows you the list of existing files. Click on the file you want to load on the list and then click on the Load button. Once you do this, the list you selected will be displayed on the main screen. This file will be the active file for all operations, such as Edit List.
If you decide not to change the current list, just click on the Cancel button or press the Esc key on your keyboard.

Deleting files

If you have created a file you no longer want, you can delete it. Click on the Files menu and then on the Delete List option. This will display the Delete List screen.
This screen allows you to delete list files from your hard drive. This will completely and permanently delete the list file, so that it no longer shows up on the Load List screen. To delete a list file, click on the name on the existing file list, then click on the Delete button. You may repeat the process. When you no longer want to delete any files, click on the Close button or press the Esc key on your keyboard.

Exiting Fast Form Filler

You can exit (shut down) Fast Form Filler by either clicking on the Files menu and then clicking on Exit, or by clicking on the X at the top right corner of the main screen
Fast Form Filler remembers many things about itself when you shut it down. For one thing, it remembers which mode it was it when it was shut off. That is, Fast Form Filler will start in whatever mode it was in when it was last shut down. It also remembers where it was on the screen and what height and width it was, and will resume this position and size when you next run it.

The Register option

If you have not yet registered Fast Form Filler, a Register option will appear on the top of the window. Clicking on it will display the registration screen, which also appears when you first run Fast Form Filler until it is registered. Once you register Fast Form Filler, this option will disappear from the top of the main screen.

Uninstalling Fast Form Filler

To uninstall Fast Form Filler (totally remove it from your computer), click on the Files menu and then on "Uninstall Fast Form Filler". If you do this, Fast Form Filler will ask if you really want to do this. If you click on the Yes button, Fast Form Filler will be totally removed from your computer. You should only use this option if you have decided that you do not want to use Fast Form Filler ever again.
